Disable Windows XP logon sound

1) Click on Start button, (Start button is at the bottom left your Window Screen)
2) Click on Control Panel,
3) Under Pick a category, select Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices,
4) Then under Pick a Control Panel icon, select or click Sound and Audio Devices,
5) Then you will obtain various tabs like: Volume, Sounds, Audio, Voice, Hardware.
6) Click on Sounds tab button,
7) The under Sound scheme, select Windows default.
8) Then click on Apply button and click on Ok button.

If you are prompted to restart the computer, please restart the computer. So, when you start the computer next time you will be welcomed with Windows XP welcome sound.

However, if the issue persists, please follow the below steps:

1) Click on Start button, (Start button is at the bottom left your Window Screen)
2) Click on Control Panel,
3) Under Pick a category, select Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices,
4) Then under Pick a Control Panel icon, select or click Sound and Audio Devices,
5) Then you will obtain various tabs like: Volume, Sounds, Audio, Voice, Hardware.
6) Click on Sounds tab button,
7) Go to Programs event,
8) Select Windows Logon,
9) Then go to Sounds (Exactly below the Programs events feature) and select Windows XP Logon Sound.

By following the above steps you can enable the Logon sound

To turn off the Windows XP Logon sound, please follow the below steps:

1) Click on Start button, (Start button is at the bottom left your Window Screen)
2) Click on Control Panel,
3) Under Pick a category, select Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices,
4) Then under Pick a Control Panel icon, select or click Sound and Audio Devices,
5) Then you will obtain various tabs like: Volume, Sounds, Audio, Voice, Hardware.
6) Click on Sounds tab button,
7) Go to Programs event,
8) Select Windows Logon,
9) Then go to Sounds (Exactly below the Programs events feature) and select None.

By following the above steps you can disable the Windows XP Logon sound.
