Unable to open hyper links or e-mail liks from e-mail messages in Outlook Express 6

I would like you to know that this issue may generally occur if Internet Explorer is not set as the default browser.

To set Internet Explorer as your default browser, please follow the steps outlined below:

To know which version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer, please foloow the below steps:

Step 1: Open Internet Explorer

Step 2: Click on the 'Help' options

Step 3: Click on the 'About' button

Step 4: You can see a window opening which gives the version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer.

Once you have know the version of Internet Explorer version, installed on your computer. You can follow the steps given below to know how to open directly web-link that come in a message in Outlook Express 6.

Please follow the below steps, if you have Internet Explorer 7 on your computer:

1. Open Internet Explorer 7.

2. Go to "Tools".

3. Select "Internet Options"

4. Click on "Programs" tab.

4. In the Registered File Types box, click URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol, and then click Advanced.

5. In the Actions box, click Open, and then click Edit.

6. Click to uncheck "Use DDE".

7. Click OK twice and then click Close.

8. Repeat steps3-7 for the following registered file types:

URL:File Transfer Protocol

URL:Gopher Protocol

URL:Internet Shortcut

9. Click Close.

1. Close “Internet Explorer”

2. Double Click “My Computer”

3. Click “Tools”, click “Folder Options”, and then click “File Types”

4. In the “Registered File Types” box, click “URL:File Transfer Protocol”, and then click “Advanced”

5. In the “Actions” box, click “Open”, and then click “Advanced”

6. The “Application Used To Perform Action” box may display the path to your Web browser as a short file name or as an incorrect path.

Type the path to your Web browser with the full file name. For example, the following path may appear in the “Application Used To Perform Action box”:
c:\progra~1\intern~1\iexplore.exe
Change the path to the following path:
"c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe" (including the quotation marks)

7. Click “OK”, and then click “Close”

8. Repeat steps 1-7 for the following registered file types:

URL:Gopher Protocol URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol URL:Hypertext Transfer protocol with Privacy URL:Internet Shortcut
